Rotating platform

Postby Jingyu.Bian » Wed Mar 31, 2021 8:15 pm

Dear Jason,
I want to rotate the platform by an angle (see attachments). Where should I modify it? Which parameters need to be modified? Thank you for taking the time to help me answer it.
Best wishes,
Jingyu, Bian

Dear Jingyu,

This rotation would effect the geometry specified in the HydroDyn and mooring (MAP++, MoorDyn, or FEAMooring) input files (and SubDyn, if you are using the recently introduced capability to model floating subsubstructure flexibility and member-level loads). It would also effect the WAMIT data if the potential-flow solution has been enabled in HydroDyn. It could also effect the inertias of the platform in ElastoDyn and the tower properties, if the tower is not axisymmetric.

It may be preferred to rotate the wind and wave directions (and naccelle-yaw angle) rather than the platform geometry.

Best regards,

Dear Jason,
If I have to rotate the platform, only modify HydroDyn (MEMBER JOINTS) and MoorDyn through rotation. Is it correct?
Best Wishes,
Jingyu, Bian

Dear Jingyu,

Yes, that is what I implied by my "geometry" comment".
