Hello,
I have run a simulation with the same input file, when I just change the controller, I get different wind speed. I have increased the distance for preventing induction effect( by changing the WindVxiList in InflowWind file ) but still, I get the different wind speed.
Would you please guide me about this issue.
Thanks,
Sepideh

Re: Same input file but different wind speed produce when the controller changes
Dear Sepideh,
Changing WindVxiList in the InflowWind module does not influence the rotor induction in anyway. Changing WindVxiList does change the location where the wind inflow outputs are calculated for writing to a file; this is probably why your wind speed changed.

Re: Same input file but different wind speed produce when the controller changes
Dear Jason,
Thank you for your reply. My issue is I get different wind speed for each controller before even changing the WindVxiList. ( I have two different controllers and after simulation, the generated wind speed is different from the another contoller.) How I can have same wind speed for both controllers as I want to compare the Power generator for both of them so I need same wind speed to have a fair comparison.
Thanks,
Sepideh

Dear Sepideh,
The controller settings in FAST should not impact the wind speed. What wind speed output are you looking at?

Dear Sepideh,
Output parameter Wind1VelX from the InflowWind module of FAST should not be influenced by the controller settings. I'm not sure what it is you are doing wrong.

Dear Jason,
I don't change anything just the controllers. Also, another member of the project team has run the simulation separately and we both get different wind speed value.

Sepideh

Re: Same input file but different wind speed produce when the controller changes
Dear Sepideh,
I'm not aware of any bug in this section of code and I have not seen such behavior myself. I suggest that you double check that are you viewing the right column of data in the output file and/or run the simulation in the debugger to figure out what is causing the problem.

Dear Jason,
We have checked this many time.but always there is the difference between wind speed value.
Thanks for your help.

Dear Sepideh,
I can't help without being able to reproduce the problem myself. I suggest that you run the simulation in the debugger to figure out what is causing the problem.
