Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason,

Just to clarify. If CalcSteady = False, then I need to set LinTimes from 200s. Is it okay to choose any 36 (NLinTimes) for LinTimes starting from 200s?

Regards,
Srinivasa

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, As you suggested I have tried with TMax=200s, TrimTol=0.01, TrimCase=2 (there is no option to set TrimCase=0), and TrimGain=100. This time the simulation for rotor speed=10rpm finished without any problem. But for the rotor speed=8rpm, I still keep getting the same problem. So I reduced ...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Sorry for the confusion. At the moment I am using the linearization section present in the fast file in the attachment. The fast file in the zip file fails with the fatal error. Please see attached the rotor speed time series for the first and last 1000s. I see that for the first 1000s t...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, I got the 5MW_Land_ModeShapes case files from links available at https://github.com/OpenFAST/openfast/pull/373. The link for the case file is https://github.com/bjonkman/r-test/blob/pullrequest/bjonkman-linear/glue-codes/openfast/5MW_Land_ModeShapes. However, now I see the link is not wo...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Thanks for your clarification on the simulation time and the timestep. There was no particular reason to use BeamDyn. I started using the test case 5MW_Land_ModeShapes from pull373 branch where BeamDyn was used by default. I did not change it assuming the case was already tested based on...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Thanks for the information. In fact, I did tried several things like a) using TMax and DT values similar to the pull373 branch input parameters used in 5MW land mode shapes case. With TMax=5600 and Dt=0.001 the simulation runtime is long. Except for the results of the 1st tower FA, all o...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, I am having trouble reproducing the Campbell diagram of NREL 5MW land based turbine using the test case ‘5MW_Land_BD_Linear’ available within the OpenFast dev branch. I have tried to use the matlab runCampbell script with some modifications to make it usable on Mac and generate the excel...

Re: Campbell diagram for 5MW turbine rotor

Dear Jason, I need some clarification with the Campbell diagram (Excel file) of the land-based NREL 5-MW turbine that you posted here (https://wind.nrel.gov/forum/wind/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1056&hilit=campbell) in the forum on Sep 22, 2016. I think that the values for the 2nd blade regressive ...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Emmanuel, I have updated the issue on github with additional problems that should be resolved. I replaced this line [CampbellData{i_case}] = campbell_diagram_data(MBC_data{i_case}, BladeLen, TowerLen, [], strrep(newFSTName,'.fst','.MBD.sum')); to [CampbellData{i_case}] = campbell_diagram_data(M...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Yes I am using the master branch of the MATLAB-Toolbox and yes I had to make few changes to the runCampbell script to make it use the dat files for the 5MW_Land_ModeShapes case as the master branch does not have the template dat files which I already mentioned here in the forum. There ar...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Yes I have used the same input file as you suggested. I have made no changed to any input files. Also, the "Echo" option is true. I think previously there was some problem switching between the dev and the pr373 branches. So I tried again compiling the openfast sources from pul...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, I am confused with the different github branches of OpenFAST and r-tests. It is not very clear which OpeFAST branch and which r-test can be used with runCampbell script available in the matlab-toolbox. I have tried your suggestions to use runCampbell script and run linearization for the ...

Re: Processing OpenFast linearization output

Dear Jason, Indeed your suggestion helped me in resolving the problem with VSContrl=1. This is a slightly different question. I see there is no difference in the .lin output file generated while using VSContrl=1 or VSContrl=0. Do you expect any difference in results? Going back to my original questi...
