Re: Moordyn

Dear Dr.Jonkman, Thank you for your response to my earlier queries. I have one another question related to Moordyn Module Am trying to do an analysis with anchors at varying depth both in Moordyn and in MAP++ modules But am not able do it successfully.Below are my corresponding input files and the o...

Moordyn

Dear Dr.Jonkman, Am trying to understand how the Moordyn line properties are arrived in default OC4 Semi submersible and OC3 Hywind. OC4 default semisub has a Moordyn file of its own but OC3 does not have.Still in Moordyn manual there is an example file posted for OC3 Hywind Moordyn. So am comparing...

Re: Static Anlysis

Dear Dr.Jonkman Thank you for your response and continued support as always.I tried to simulate default OC3 Hywind model with Uref =0m/s ,current velocity CurrNSV0 = 0m/s and still water with 0 Tp and Hs. I got the following error message. But when I set all these parameters to a very minimal value ...

Static Anlysis

Greetings to everyone in the forum.
I have a quick question in FAST. can we run a static analysis in it, that is with zero wind ,wave and currents?

Clump weight in Moordyn

Dear Dr.Jonkman Greetings for the day!Thank you for your responses before. I just have quick question in Moordyn for OC3 Hywind model. I would like to add a clump weight at about 0.1L of the mooring line.Say if my mooring line length is 902 this is going to be approximately about 90m from fairlead. ...

Re: Changing wave direction

Thanks for your quick response Dr.Jonkman.

Having said that, I would be unable to rotate the spar say for 90 degrees as the point of reference is center(0,0) always.I will have to achieve it only by doing WaveDir 90 degrees.

Changing wave direction

Dear Dr.Jonkman Greetings for the day!I have a quick question in OC3 Hydrodyn module. When we say the wave direction is in zero degree , is it modeled as the waves hitting at center of the spar i.e. x=0,y=o. If we imagine spar as circle with center (0,0). [Below are the corresponding lines from hydr...

Changing wind direction

Dear Jason,

Thank you very much for all the guidance for my previous questions.

I would like to change the wind flow direction for a study. I have question like do we need to change it in 'inflow wind' file or in 'turbsim' file.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Allowable heave in FOWT

Yes Dr.Jonkman this 18m surge and -4m heave is for DLC 1.6 (wind dominated case) . And I will have to check the mean heave in static condition.

Re: Allowable heave in FOWT

Dear Dr.Jonkman

These values which am referring are mean surge and mean heave for a particular one hour simulation after getting rid off the initial ten minutes. And also these mean heave values have shifted from positive to negative as I move from lighter to denser chain.

Re: Allowable heave in FOWT

Thank you Dr.Jason that was very informative. Am dealing with surge of about 18m and heave around -4m in a water depth of about 200m.

Are these numbers acceptable for a spar?

Allowable heave in FOWT

Dear sir, Am trying to design mooring line for 200m water depth for OC3 hywind model. Am taking the platform motions for default 320m spar as my target platform motions and changing the mooring line properties accordingly. While doing so I have ended up with a mooring line which is twice heavier tha...
