Mooring Cable Visualisation

Hi, I am trying to create a visualisation of the OC3-Hywind Spar. I have successfully created a visualisation of the spar, but it is without the mooring cables. I recently saw a picture of the OC3-Hywind with the mooring cables incuded in some NREL documentation, as included below. I was wondering i...

Re: Mlife - User Defined Distribution

Hi Jason, Thank you for your reply. I now have Mlife running with the User Defined Distrubtion. Perhaps you could offer further insight into some questions I have regarding using Mlife: 1. When defining th LUlt for parameters, is it assumed that the LUlt will be in the same units as the paramter is ...

Mlife - User Defined Distribution

Hi, I am attempting to use MLIfe with a user defined, 4 variable probability distribution and I have ran into some questions/problems. When selecting to use a User Defined Distribution, why is it necessary to still specify the Wind Speed Channel for fatigue calculations? Is there any way around this...

Re: FAST Computation Time and Improvement

Hi Jason, Thanks for your helpful reply. I followed your advice and compiled using Intel 19.0.1 Parallel Studio Fortran Compiler. I also compiled in Single Precision. This doubles my computation speeds, but it is still quite slow at .8 sim/CPU time. If you, or anyone else, would have any other point...

Re: FAST Computation Time and Improvement

Hi all, I have compiled a Linux version of OpenFAST using gfortran and am running tests on the OC3 Hywind spar. I am experiencing extremely low sim/CPU times of roughly .4. I aim to run roughly 1700 tests for a periods of 1 hour each and so need to improve this sim/CPU time substantially. On my wind...

Re: Instructions for Compiling FAST

Hi all, I have compiled openFAST on my Linux system and am trying to run Test Case 24. The Servodyn Driver for the OC3 Hywind does not seem to have been created during the compilation. I also compiled the r-test suite, where the driver was created for windows (.dll) rather than for linux (.so). Is i...

Re: Compiling Fast v8 using gfortran

Hi Jason, Great, thanks! I am now trying to compile FAST on a high performance computer using Linux to run some extensive simulations. I am running into some compilation error with FAST which I do not understand. I'm trying to follow the instructions at https://github.com/old-NWTC/FAST/blob/master/C...

Re: Compiling Fast v8 using gfortran

Hi, I have successfully compiled Fast v8 and Turbsim v2 using a gfortran compiler, and both are working very well. A strange issue has come to my attention, however. I was getting errors such as 'Segmentation Error- core dumped' and found the reason for this error to be the "Hdsum" flag in...

Re: Instructions for Compiling FAST

Hi, I am trying to compile FAST on a Ubuntu Linux 64 bit system. Following the compiling instructions, I have successfully created the registry.exe and libmap-1.20.10.so files and moved them too the appropriate folders. When I try to compile the FAST executable however, I run into issues with the ma...

Re: Compiling FAST/FAST S function on Linux x86_64

Hi Jesper, I have been trying to follow your guide to compiling FAST in a Linux 64 bit system and am being met with the follow error when trying to run the patches: ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Desktop/fast_build$ patch -p1 -d nwtc < nwtc.patch can't find file to patch at input line 4 Perhaps you used the wrong ...

Control of TMDs

Dear All, I am currently writing my Master's Thesis on the use of actively controlled TMDs in the nacelle of turbines. I am trying to create a control algorithm, coupled with a full state estimator, that would allow for the control of vibrations. I have 2 questions I hope you can help me with; 1) I ...
