Re: Bsic questions

Dear Jason,

Thank you so much for your reply. Could you please explain more about selection of cut off frequency? Why do you use this small frequency, for example why not using 2 hz?

Thank you
Omid

Bsic questions

Hello all, I have two questions regarding implementation of PI controller using FAST/ Simulink, I would appreciate if you answer them. 1) In Dr. Jonkman thesis at page 67, I saw that a low pass filter with cut off frequency of 0.25 hz is used. Does this frequency cause a delay of about 4 second in t...

Re: Model, wave effects

Hi Jason,
Thanks for your reply, Where can I get those moments while I am doing simulation? among the parameters which are listed in Outlist, I can see for example "TwrBsMxt" , "PtfmMxt",... Are they specifying hydrostatic and hydrodynamic moments?
Thank you

Re: Model, wave effects

Hi,
Does FAST have the capability of finding the moment due to the hydrostatic or hydrodynamic force such as wave?
thank you

Model, wave effects

Hello everyone,

In the linearized model of the turbine, how can I find the relation between wave and other states of the model? I want to investigate the effects of wave on for example generator speed, platform pitch angle, ....

Thank you

Maximum efficiency angle

Hi everyone,
To have the maximum efficiency in low wind speed, there exists an optimum blade angle. This angle is between the wind direction and blade or it is an angle between the blade and direction of blade rotation?
Thank you

Relative wind speed

Hi all,

if we have a offshore platform, due to the platform movement the speed which is sensed by the turbine (relative speed between turbine and wind speed) is different from wind speed. Does FAST consider wind speed or relative speed in calculation of torque, ...?

Thank you

Re: Linearized model

Hi, I could figured it out. My mistake was that the input to the linearized model should be the deviation from the equilibrium point, but I was wrongly inputting the absolute values of wind speed and generator torque. Does anyone know the difference between different values of VSContrl when we are l...

Linearized model

Hello all, I am going to compare the open loop response of linear and nonlinear model, but their results were different!:( I assumed just generator speed as the DOF for the NREL 5MW wind turbine and linearized the model, the linearization parameters are set as followed: ******************** --------...

Re: Simulating PI controller for region 3

Hi Bonnie, Thanks for your response. I changed those but I got the similar error and *.mod and *.obj is not even generated. I uninstalled my previous version of visual studio and Fortran and currently I am using Microsoft visual studio 2010 and Intel parallel studio XE 2011, I also downloaded FAST_v...

Re: Simulating PI controller for region 3

Dear Jason, Thank you so much for your response and sorry for my late response. I read and applied those logics, during these 2 weeks I was designing my controller and I could do some simulation in region 2 and 3, but I am not sure about my simulation results in region 3, therefore I want to compare...
