Re: Wind Turbine Energy Generation Data

We take measurements of the wind and of solar irradiance at our site using our M2 met tower, and the data is on the web and free to access. However, our site is not a typical commercial wind site and doesn't have a wind distribution that's similar to what you'd find at such a commercial site. Thus, ...

Are the leakage reactance and the resistance of the generator rotor referred to stator?

I attached an image of my circuit, do someone know if this circuit is the same of the "complete circuit" described at the FAST Guide?

Yes, and yes.

Re: Pitch accelerations

Hello, I'm looking to study pitch dynamic effects on swept blades. Does anybody know of reasonable limits of pitch system accelerations? Thanks, Oh, we can get 150-200 degrees/second^2 on the CARTs, and those are really, really fast compared to most commercial systems which are usually less than ha...

thanks Lee for your reply i think my question was not clear so i will reformulate it. considering the WT_PERF simulator, if i want to compare the predicted results using WT_PERF with the measured power of the NREL phase VI turbine available at 3 deg tip pitch angle, should i enter the blade pitch a...

Re: Two questions concerning the NREL phase VI wind turbine

Hi all, i have two questions concerning the NREL phase VI wind turbine, and i hope to receive the reply soon! 1- phase VI wind turbine has been tested at 3 deg tip pitch angle, however the blade tip has local twist of about - 1.78 deg with respect to the zero twist at 75% blade-span as found in &qu...

Thank you, LeeJay! It puzzled me for a long time. I am thinking about that the double fed induction motor who wants to control the stator's current doesn't need rotor winding while the DFIG who wants to control the rotor's current needs windings for both stator and rotor(I still not sure). Or perha...

I have a question on double fed induction generator which uses in wind turbines: Are the double fed induction generator and the double fed induction motor the same thing? The difference between them is that they works in different status. Is it right?

Yes, to both questions.

Thanks for sharing, Lee Jay! I had thought something similar, but rejected it as too complex. Now that I am not completely satisfied with the startup behavior, I will have to reconsider! What do you think about the objection that the wind velocity that you feed in your TSR calculation is actually &...

I use an idealized optimal pitch angle versus tip-speed-ratio curve. This curve is developed with performance analysis tools like WTPerf. It represents the highest Cp predicted for each TSR from 0 to the TSR for optimal Cp. I fit that with a 3rd order polynomial and follow it during startup. I filte...
