Here is a list of studies of data that NWTC staff took in the NASA/Ames 80'x120' wind tunnel that are applicable to small turbine work:
  • Comparison of wake data to wake models.
  • Comparison of wake flow visualization to wake models.
  • Extraction of induced velocity at the rotor from five-hole probe data.
  • Comparison of measured induced velocity to output of induced velocity from rotor aerodynamic models.
  • Comparison of measured induced velocity to wake velocity measurements.
  • Turbine loads under static yaw conditions.
  • Turbine loads under dynamic yaw conditions.
  • Rotor generalized forces and moments under static yaw conditions.
  • Rotor generalized forces and moments under dynamic yaw conditions.
  • Determination of thrust center.
  • Wake measurements in the region of the tail vane.
  • Wake coherence in the region of the tail vane.
  • Influence of the tower with upwind turbine operation.
  • Power curves under yawed conditions.
