A program to create IEC wind data files.

by Dr. David J. Laino
Windward Engineering, LLC

IECWind is a utility program used to create wind files for the AeroDyn-based programs YawDyn, ADAMS/AeroDyn, and FAST.  IECWind creates wind files that model the extreme conditions outlined in IEC 61400-1, Ed. 3.0.

To use IECWind, download the self-extracting archive file, place it in an appropriate directory, then execute it.  Before using IECWind, it would be helpful to read the files: ReadMe.txt and InputDescription.txt.

IECWind is an easy program to use.  However, if you should have any difficulties using it, or if you encounter any bugs, please contact Dr. David J. Laino.  Please do not send inquiries about the IEC wind conditions, but instead refer to the IEC standard 61400-1, Ed. 3.0.

You may download the following files from our server:

  • IECWind Change Log (v5.10, 4 KB, 31-August-2005)

This is the IECWind change log.  Look at this text file to see if we've made worthwhile changes since you received your previous version of IECWind.

  • IECWind Input Description File (v5.1, 4 KB, 31-August-2005)

This file contains a description of the IECWind input file in plain text.

  • IECWind ReadMe File (v5.1, 6 KB, 22-July-2005)

This plain-text file contains a description of what is new in the latest version of IECWind.

  • IECWind Archive (v5.10, 186 KB, 01-September-2005)

This is a self-extracting archive of IECWind for the latest edition of IEC 61400-1.  Simply execute it in an appropriate directory to extract the files.  It contains the read-me file, input description, change log, the source code, and Windows executable.

  • IECWind Archive for IEC 61400-1 Ed. 2 (v4.12, 186 KB, 19-November-2002)

This is a self-extracting archive of IECWind for IEC 61400-1 Ed. 2.  Simply execute it in an appropriate directory to extract the files.  It contains the read-me file, input description, change log, the source code, and Windows executable.
