The National Wind Technology Center
partners with Underwriters Laboratory to provide the wind industry with a complete source for wind turbine certification testing and design evaluation services.

The NWTC provides performance, noise emissions, blade, and loads testing, for any configuration or size of wind turbine. We also provide design evaluation services needed by manufacturers and certification agents.

Operated for the U.S. Department of Energy by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the NWTC Certification Program operates in compliance with ISO Guide 25 and tests to the most exacting recognized international standards.

The NWTC is a fully equipped certification test facility that has been developed specifically to provide capabilities for all major wind turbine certification tests, design evaluations, and installation (facility) evaluations.

This Certification Site is designed to provide basic information on the certification process, certification testing, wind turbine certification and testing standards, and the current certificates issued for wind turbine generator systems.

Detailed information about certification testing, the requirements of the certification process, and the international standards governing wind turbine certification is also provided for companies wishing to begin the certification process.
